Barcelona, Apr 3 (EFE).- Lionel Messi will miss FC Barcelona's next Spanish-league match against RCD Mallorca, but the club said Wednesday that he has not been ruled out for Barça's UEFA Champions League quarterfinal second leg versus Paris Saint-Germain.
The superstar Argentine striker was injured in the first half of Tuesday night's game against PSG, which was played at the Parc des Princes in Paris and ended in a 2-2 draw, and did not play after the intermission.
Minutes before suffering the injury, Messi opened the scoring by notching his 59th goal in Europe's premier annual soccer competition.
Messi underwent tests in Barcelona and will definitely not play against Mallorca on Saturday, while his availability for the second-leg match against PSG next Wednesday and future contests will depend on how quickly he recovers, the Catalan club said.
Barcelona, which holds a 13-point lead over second-place Real Madrid with nine matches to play in the season, has virtually wrapped up its 22nd Spanish-league title.
