Kabul, Apr 22 (EFE).- Taliban insurgents seized nine foreign nationals and their Afghan interpreter in the eastern province of Logar, an official told Efe Monday.
The foreigners were kidnapped Sunday after their helicopter made a forced landing in the Azra district due to bad weather, Logar government spokesman Din Mohamed Darwish said.
He described the captives as seven Turkish engineers, the helicopter's two-man Ukrainian crew and an Afghan.
The Turkish foreign ministry, however, said the Taliban abducted eight Turks, a Russian and an Afghan translator traveling with them.
Azra is a remote area where Taliban influence remains strong, Darwish said.
Local authorities say it appears the insurgents moved the captives out of the district, while Darwish said the Logar provincial government sent a team of investigators to Azra.
