Madrid, Apr 24 (EFE).- Spanish construction and civil engineering groups ACS, Ferrovial, Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas and OHL are competing as part of various consortiums for a contract to design, build, finance, operate and maintain Florida's I-4 interstate highway.
FCC and OHL are bidding together as members of a consortium that also includes the Macquarie Capital infrastructure group.
Among the other consortiums pre-qualified by the Florida Department of Transportation are one that includes ACS Infraestructuras and Dragados and another in which Ferrovial Agroman is a member.
The $2.1 billion project, which will include four tolled express lanes, will involve overhauling 21 miles of I-4 from Kirkman Road in Orange County to State Road 434 in Seminole County.
I-4 is a key link between Tampa, on Florida's west coast, and Daytona Beach, on the state's east coast.
