Miami, Apr 28 (EFE).- The head of the Ladies in White, Berta Soler, told Efe that she believes that a free Cuba will soon become a reality "with the support of the Cuban exiles and all lovers of liberty."

"I have faith in Christ that we're going to achieve a free and democratic Cuba but, also, a Cuba without the Castros," the human rights activist said in a meeting Saturday with members of the Cuban exile community in the Miami suburb of Coral Gables.

"We need freedom, we want real changes. Not cosmetic changes. And that depends on us, the Cubans. We have confidence in ourselves and we want to have the support of the international community," Soler said, referring to the growing demand of the Cuban people for the development of an alternative government on the island.

"I feel very moved to be with my Cuban family," Soler told Efe after participating in the meeting, which was organized to recall the example of Laura Pollan, the leader and founder of the Ladies in White, who died in October 2011.

About 100 people welcomed Soler with white gladiolas to show their solidarity with her and their support for the work of the Ladies in White in Cuba.

"The message I'm sending to my people is that we're all Cubans, we're a single people," Soler told supporters, adding that they should "not believe what the Castro regime says, that we (Cubans) are divided."

After her stop in Miami, the Cuban activist will travel on Monday to New Jersey and then to Puerto Rico.

"I'm also going to go to Rome because I have a meeting with the Spanish ambassador in Rome and possibly I will also be at the new pope's public audience (on May 8)," she said, referring to Pope Francis.
