Plane crash kills 2 in Venezuela

Caracas, May 5 (EFE).- A small plane crashed Sunday in a residential part of Valencia, a city in west-central Venezuela, killing the two occupants, Interior Minister Miguel Rodriguez said.

The pilot, Luis Maldonado, and co-pilot Rodofo Dilona died in the crash, and authorities are searching the house into which the plane crashed, along with an adjacent building, looking for possible other victims, Rodriguez told VTV.

Six vehicles were damaged or destroyed when the small plane plunged to earth for unknown reasons about 10:30 a.m. some 3 kilometers (1.9 miles) from Valencia's Arturo Michelena International Airport, Rodriguez said.

The plane was a Learjet60 and covered the Caracas-Valencia route, the Carabobo state emergency management office said in a Twitter posting.

The crash and other information surrounding the incident were later confirmed by the minister.
