San Juan, May 9 (EFE).- Television actress and presenter Karla Monroig will be the host of the second season of the "Idol Kids Puerto Rico" singing competition, which will be broadcast on WAPA-TV starting in July.
Monroig, the wife of singer-songwriter Tommy Torres, will travel from Miami to the island of her birth to participate in filming the program, her representatives said Thursday in a press release.
"I'm very happy to have the chance to be the host of Idol Kids Puerto Rico, to contribute my two cents toward discovering the stars of the future on such a fun and positive family show," Monroig said.
She will replace Puerto Rican actor Carlos Ponce as the host of the program, where Edgar Hernandez won the competition last year.
The judges will be Puerto Rican singers Kany Garcia and Ana Isabelle and businessman Edgardo Diaz, the creator of the Menudo group, to which Ricky Martin and Robi Draco Rosa both belonged in years past.
The judging panel for last year was comprised of Venezuelan brothers Servando and Florentino and Panamanian singer-songwriter Erika Ender.
"Idol Kids Puerto Rico" is a singing program for children between ages 7 and 12 who aspire to be singers.
