Mexico City, Jun 26 (EFE).- The San Antonio Spurs, whose line-up features Argentine guard Manu Ginobili, and the Minnesota Timberwolves, the team of Spanish guard Ricky Rubio, will play a regular season game on Dec. 4 in Mexico City, an NBA executive said.
"It will be the second NBA regular season played in Mexico since 1997, when the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks played," the National Basketball Association's vice president for Latin America, Philippe Moggio, said in a press conference at Arena Ciudad de Mexico.
"This game is one of the NBA's most ambitious efforts. The NBA is showing that it wants to keep growing and taking the game to other countries outside the United States," Moggio said.
The clash between San Antonio and Minnesota at Arena Ciudad de Mexico "will be a good opportunity to experience an NBA game like it's experienced in the United States," Moggio said.
San Antonio, coming off its loss to the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals, will be playing in Mexico for the fifth time, while Minnesota will be making its first appearance in the country.
"We are looking for the experience of the teams and fans to be the same as in any other regular season game and the Arena Ciudad de Mexico was key to considering Mexico for a game," Moggio said.
Ticket prices for the Spurs-Timberwolves game will cost from $13 to $423.
