Madrid, Aug 23 (EFE).- Spanish dare-devil sportsman and television personality Alvaro Bulto died Friday in a skydiving accident over the Swiss Alps.

The adventurer "lost his life doing what he liked best," the Discovery Max cable network said in a statement.

Bulto, 51, was engaged in wing-suit flying, which involves the use of a specially designed device.

In May, Bulto led his Wild Wolf team in a display of base jumping from the top of Europe's tallest residential building, the Bali tower in Benidorm.

Bulto hosted adventure programs on Television Española and was part of the latest season of the Antena 3 network's "Splash."

"My first toy was a motorcycle," Bulto once said.

His father, Francisco "Paco" Bulto, founded the Bultaco and Montesa motorcycle companies, while great-uncle Sete Gibernau was a two-time runner-up in the Moto GP championship.

In 2007, Alvaro Bulto and companions Toni Lopez and Santi Corella became the first people to parachute onto Antarctica from an altitude of 3,000 meters (9,836 ft.).
