Baghdad, Sep 19 (EFE).- Nine people were killed and 30 others injured Thursday in a bombing at a market west of Baghdad, Iraqi police told Efe.

The attack took place in Abu Ghraib, home of the notorious prison.

Elsewhere, gunmen opened fire on an Iraqi army vehicle in the northwestern Baghdad neighborhood of Al Chooda, killing two soldiers, one of them an officer.

In Balad, north of the capital, a roadside bomb left one person dead and another injured.

A civilian was fatally shot in Baqouba, capital of the conflictive northeastern province of Diyala, where an army captain was badly injured in a bomb blast.

Earlier Thursday, police found 10 young men shot to death in the eastern section of Baghdad.

The victims' hands were bound and each had been shot in the head.

Medical examiners are working to identify the dead, described by police as males ranging in age from 18-25.

Separately, seven people were injured in a roadside bombing in the al-Hasua area, 30 kilometers (19 miles) west of Baghdad, the police sources said, adding that the blast damaged parked vehicles and nearby buildings.

More than 800 people died last month in Iraq as a result of political or sectarian violence, bringing the civilian death toll for the year so far to around 5,000, the U.N. mission in Baghdad said.
