Los Angeles, Dec 7 (EFE).- Mexican alternative rock group Cafe Tacvba and American salsa icon Marc Anthony have been nominated for the Recording Academy's 56th Annual Grammy Awards for U.S. music.
Cafe Tacvba is going for the gold gramophone in the category of Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album for "El Objeto Antes Llamado Disco," against such rivals as El Tri ("Ojo Por Ojo"), Illya Kuryaki and The Valderramas ("Chances"), La Santa Cecilia ("Treinta Dias") and Los Amigos Invisibles ("Repeat After Me").
Anthony has his eye on the prize for Best Tropical Latin Album for "3O" against the other hopefuls: Los Angeles Azules ("Como Te Voy A Olvidar"), Pacific Mambo Orchestra ("Pacific Mambo Orchestra"), Carlos Vives ("Corazon Profundo"), and the disc by multiple composers "Sergio George Presents Salsa Giants."
Fighting it out in the category of Best Latin Pop Album are Frankie J. for "Faith, Hope Y Amor," Ricardo Montaner ("Viajero Frecuente"), Draco Rosa ("Vida"), Aleks Syntek ("Syntek") and Tommy Torres ("Historias").
Nominees for Best Regional Mexican Music Album are Banda Los Recoditos ("El Free"), Intocable ("En Peligro de Extincion"), Mariachi Divas De Cindy Shea ("A Mi Manera"), Paquita la del Barrio ("Romeo Y Su Nieta") and Joan Sebastian ("Celebrando El 13").
The presentation gala for the 56th Annual Grammy Awards will be held Jan. 26 a Staples Center in Los Angeles.
