Madrid | EFE - Spain's crown prince and his wife will preside over the Feb. 13 inauguration of Agencia EFE's new headquarters, which has been outfitted with the latest technology to meet the needs of the world's fourth-largest news agency.

Accompanying Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia will be the presidents of EFE, Jose Antonio Vera, and parent company SEPI, Ramon Aguirre, as well as prominent figures from the worlds of business, politics, culture and sport.

Ahead of the ceremony, the royal couple will tour the new EFE installations in the 18-story structure on Madrid's Avenida Burgos.

The building, which belongs to SEPI unit Sepides, has been equipped with a television studio to house EFETV.

The inauguration of the new headquarters will kick off a year of special events marking Agencia EFE's 75th anniversary, including a major historical exhibit hosted by Madrid's Casa del Lector.

Covering more than 1,100 square meters (11,800 sq. feet), the exposition will recount EFE's history and the major events the agency has covered over the past 75 years, tracing its evolution into the world's biggest Spanish-language news agency.

Photographs will be major component of the Madrid exhibit and of a traveling display that will make stops throughout Spain and Latin America.

Those photos will also be available in a book of reflections from figures such as Spain's King Juan Carlos and Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, U.S. President Barack Obama and former Brazilian head of state Ignacio Lula da Silva.

The year 2014 will see EFE play host to the annual assemblies of the Alliance of Mediterranean News Agencies, or AMAN, the European Alliance of News Agencies - EANA - and MINDS International, a global network of leading news agencies collaborating in the digital development of the media.
