Syrian refugees kidnapped by gunmen in N. Lebanon

A group of gunmen intercepted a bus carrying the displaced Syrians in Lebanon's northern Wadi Khaled border region and took them to an unidentified area, a Lebanese security source said Monday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity that the passengers, among them are children and women, were taken to an unspecified area as soon as the bus entered into the Lebanese side by the crossing point in Al Arida.

Army unit was immediately deployed in the region after the incident and a search operation has been launched.

In May, 2012, nine Lebanese pilgrims were kidnapped by the Syrian rebels in the Azaz region in Aleppo and they were still being held hostage. Their families have threatened to escalate their protest to free the kidnapped.
