Galatasaray's US guard Hawkins gets 4-year ban

The Turkish Basketball Federation (TBF) has suspended Galatasaray Medical Park's US shooting guard David Hawkins for four years after he tested positive for banned substances.

The federation did not penalize his club. In a statement released on Tuesday, the TBF said methylecgonine, a substance prohibited by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), was found in Hawkins' samples which were taken following a domestic league match between Galatasaray and Royal Hali Gaziantep Buyuksehir Belediyesi on Dec. 22, 2012. The TBF additionally fined Hawkins TL 10,000. The US player had been suspended for three months by Italian authorities in 2007 due to a doping offense.
