Belgian filmmaker Peter Brosens and American director Pip Chodorov are today's guests at the Istanbul International Film Festival, marking its 32nd edition until April 14.
Brosens, who directed “La Cinquième Saison” (The Fifth Season) with Jessica Woodworth, is expected to attend a question and answer session following the screening of his film at the Atlas Movie Theater in Beyoglu. The film will be shown at 4 p.m. as part of the festival's Mined Zone section, featuring “groundbreaking” and “challenging films outside the main stream with their extraordinary styles,” the festival's website says.
Today's second guest, Chodorov, the director of “Free Radicals: A History of Experimental Film,” will meet with film buffs at 9 p.m. at the Beyoglu Cinema. The director will answer fans' questions after the film screening. Chodorov will later attend the panel “Free Radicals -- A Panel On Experimental Cinema” on Sunday with filmmaker-author Heinz Peter Schwerfel.
Directors David Siegel, Scott McGehee and Brosens, as well as Bosnian actor Mustafa Nadarevic were the guests of the festival on Wednesday. Siegel and McGehee directed “What Maisie Knew,” which tells of the trauma suffered by a 6-year-old girl when her parents divorce. Nadarevic is the leading actor in “When Day Breaks,” which was among the nominees for Best Foreign Language Film at the 85th Academy Awards.
