Robbers go on the rampage

Dacoits on Wednesday hit the provincial capital for 27 times, robbed residences, looted families, and motorists and made off cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth millions of rupees besides five cars and nine motorcycles, police sources claimed.

Five gunmen walked into the house of Sajid Ahmed in the Mustafa Town police limits and held up the family members at gunpoint. The bandits tied all members of the family with ropes and then locked them in one of the rooms, and took away cash and gold ornaments worth Rs800000 at gunpoint.

Four gunmen barged into the house of Ikram-ul-Haq in the Shahdara Town police precincts and snatched away cash and gold ornaments worth Rs600000 after holding the inmates’ hostage at gunpoint.

Mazhar Hussain told the police that two motorcyclists stopped his family at gunpoint in the Faisal Town police area and deprived them of their belongings worth Rs800000.

Gunmen riding on a motorcycle intercepted the family of one Asif in the Kahna police limits and escaped after snatching cash and gold ornaments worth Rs600000.

Robbers equipped with pistols and riding on motorcycles also stopped passersby, families and, motorists in the Township, Liaqatabad, Gulberg, Rang Mahal, Naseerabad, Bhatti Gate, Gulberg, Raiwind, and Baghbanpura police areas and escaped after snatching cash and gold ornaments from worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.

Meanwhile, five cars were stolen away from Millat Park, Model Town, Gulberg, Lytton Road and Yakki Gate police limits while nine motorcycles were either snatched or stolen away from Nawab, Town, Mozang, South Cantonment, Sanda, Shadbagh, Liaqatabad, Gowalmandi, Garden Town, and Baghbanpura police areas. The police are investigating.
