Apart from panic, passengers aboard one of the inter-island vessels plying Jordan, Guimaras-Iloilo City and vice versa, were all safe following a near disaster at Jordan port in Guimaras.

Report have it that both motorbanca Kevin Lee skippered by Edgar Tilago and M/B Sydney skippered by Dionisio Gabinera came all the way from mainland Iloilo City on their way to the island-province of Guimaras when the fateful incident happened about 6:20 p.m. Wednesday.

Kevin Lee was about to dock Jordan wharf to unload at least 40 passengers aboard while the M/B Sydney was about to pull out of the wharf after unloading its passengers when its outrigger was sideswiped by the former vessel.

Because of the strong impact, Kevin Lee swerved to its side causing panic among passengers aboard that even prompted one of its passengers to jump into the sea in panic.

However, port personnel immediately responded for possible rescue of beleaguered passengers. Luckily, not one of the passengers were hurt or injured during the incident. Both inter-island vessels sustained no damaged.

Meanwhile, the Cost Guard Iloilo Station said that last night near disaster is just a minor incident with nothing to worry about.
