Dhaka: Home Minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir said that militants of BNP and Jamaat-Shibir may join in the long march of Hefajat-e-Islam and carry out subversive activities during the programme on April 6. The Home Minister was talking to journalists after attending a meeting with ministers about the long march programme at his ministry on Thursday. â€œAccording to our intelligence, the militants may join in the programme and carry out subversive activities. The government is monitoring the situationâ€, said the minister.
Issuing a note of warning, the Home Minister said: â€œIf any untoward incident happens during the long march, Hefajat-e-Islam would have to take the responsibilityâ€. â€œThe government will take legal action for unlawful activitiesâ€, said Alamgir. He, however, said law enforcers have been asked not to obstruct peaceful long march.
State Minister for Home Advocate Shamsul Haque Tuku, State Minister for Law Quamrul Islam, Railways Minister Mujibul Haque, Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan, Forests and Environment Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, Food Minister Dr Abdur Razzak and State Minister LGRD Jahangir Kabir Nanak were present at the meeting.
