Police Regional Office XIII after exerting so much effort had identified the "kind-hearted" police officer who assisted a traveling mother with her child by paying for her excess baggage at Bancasi Airport, Barangay Bancasi, this city last March 18.
With the coordination of the Aviation Security Group (AVSEG) detailed at the Bancasi airport, SPO1 Philip Amer Mazo of the Police Regional Office XIII information office identified the "soft-hearted" policeman as Senior Police Officer 3 Sherwin Abellare of the Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG).
Reports had it that the said police officer helped a mother with a child who was in tears at the airport's check-in counter at that time begging for consideration as she cannot afford the excess baggage fee of P560.00.
The mother accordingly was crying as she explained that she cannot leave the baggage behind as some of her baby's stuff were in the bag.
Abellare volunteered to pay for the excess fee of the mother's baggage, then just plainly walked out of the scene afterwards. A concerned citizen got a picture of the scene and uploaded it at a social network. The picture got "viral" here in the region.
Sources from the police information office here said that the policeman must be Cebu-based and was detailed to a very important personality (VIP). He must also be passing by at the said airport that time.
Caraga Police chief CSupt. Getulio Napenas was reported to have said that the policeman's deed is very worthy of emulating to those who are in the police service and very commendatory.
