Working group on Caspian legal status to hold next meeting after April 20

Kamala Guliyeva; “The negotiations on the legal status of the Caspian Sea are constantly on agenda, the contacts on this are being continued,” said Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov.

According to him, the Caspian littoral states are regularly holding consultations at the level of working groups: “Azerbaijan held consultations with Russia in March and discussed the issue of summit, because following the summit in Baku, the next summit was expected to be held in Russia. We exchanged views on the preparations for the summit. At the same time, we also discussed the works done by the working group on the status of the Caspian Sea. There are some issues that need to be reconsidered. The main purpose is to discuss the issues that contribute to the rapprochement of positions.”

Khalaf Khalafov said that the next meeting of the working group is expected to be held in Tehran after April 20. Azerbaijan has already confirmed his participation in the meeting: “I think that the other countries have also confirmed their participation. We hope that at the meeting, the efforts will be made to find common ground for the status. Of course, within the framework of this meeting, it is impossible to agree with all issues, but common ground can be found in some issues.”
