Man jumps from FSM Bridge in suicide attempt, survives with injuries

A man with reported psychological problems jumped from Istanbul's Fatih Sultan Mehmet (FSM) Bridge on Thursday in an attempt to kill himself but survived with minor injuries.

Thirty-seven-year-old truck driver M.O., who reportedly started having psychological problems after separating from his wife, stopped his truck in the middle of traffic on the FSM Bridge to jump off the bridge that links the Asian and European continents in Istanbul.

Police officers and a psychologist tried to dissuade M.O. from jumping for about 40 minutes, but he abruptly jumped off into the waters of the Bosporus but survived the attempt with minor injuries.

Previously, another man also tried to take own life by jumping from the Bosporus Bridge on March. 19, but he also survived the attempt with minor injuries.
