White Ribbon Campaign Pakistan holds a training workshop here on Tuesday on conflict reporting for women journalists apprising them with new and latest trends to report objectively in crucial circumstances.
Addressing the workshop, Country Director Heinrich Boll Stiftung, Britta Petersen instructed the journalists on different aspects and issues of ‘Conflict Sensitive Journalism’.
She also described in detail journalists unconscious role, reliable journalism and democracy, newsroom culture and standards of quality journalism.
The workshop was organized in collaboration with Heinrich Boll Stiftung (HBS) of Germany, under its continued professional education programme.
Sharing his views on the occasion, Chief Executive Officer, White Ribbon Campaign of Pakistan, Omer Aftab said media should follow research-based and gender-sensitive news reporting.
“Liaison and coordination between civil society organizations and media can be helpful to address women’s rights issues and create awareness among masses.
He also urged that there is a need to develop conducive environment to practice gender sensitive reporting, adding that awareness programmes should be designed to change mindsets and women related issues should also be focussed in media.
