Yesterday evening in St. Petersburg, where the Baltic Sea Forum was held today, a meeting took place between Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev and Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis, where they concentrated on the liberalization of Latvia's natural gas market. Dombrovskis promised to respect the state's obligations vis-a-vis the privatization agreement with "Latvijas Gaze" (LG).
During yesterday's talks, the two sides concentrated on economic matters, and did not touch on political topics. At the meeting was "Gazprom" President Alexei Miller, invited by the Russian side. The Latvian PM declared that Latvia is ready for constructive talks with the LG shareholders to find a balanced, prudent solution.
Dombrovskis also invited the Russian PM to visit Latvia. ''Mr.Medvedev seemed open to the idea,'' Dombrovskis said after the meeting. However, no specific time period was set on a possible visit to Latvia by the Russian PM.
