The UAE has called on the international community to devise strategies and plans for development and reconstruction in Sudan's Darfur and explore true opportunities for improving living, social and economic conditions of the local population.
Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Development and International Co-operation, told the Darfur donor conference in Doha that the UAE had offered US$ 882 million in development, relief and humanitarian aid to Sudan.
In her address to the two-day international meeting read on her behalf by Jassim Al Qasimi, Director of Economic Affairs, at the Ministry, Sheikha Lubna said the UAE is one of the key donors of Sudan.
UAE, she added, is also investing in several economic sectors in Sudan.
