Ace Test batsman Younis Khan slammed a brilliant century and fellow Test batsman Asad Shafiq cracked an unbeaten 92 as Habib Bank Ltd (HBL) defeated PIA by 27 runs in President’s Trophy One-day Cricket Tournament at National Stadium here on Sunday.
Former Pakistan captain Younis who was axed from the list of 30 probables named by the selectors for the Champions Trophy, hit half a dozen boundaries and one six in his 124-ball knock of 101 and Asad blasted 74-ball 92 not out spiced with 13 boundaries as HBL piled up 331 for the loss of three wickets.
Ahmed Shehzad contributed 78 in 90 deliveries with six fours and one six while Shahid Afridi in his typical style banged an undefeated 39 with three sixes and many boundaries off just 15 balls.
PIA in reply were bowled out for 304 in 49th over despite a fighting 76-ball 108 spiced with 13 hits to the ropes and two over it.
