The Young Turks Association has filed a complaint against the members of the “wise men” committee established to inform the public about the ongoing settlement talks with the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), at the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on Tuesday.
Gathering in front of the Istanbul Courthouse on Tuesday, a 30-person group of members of the Young Turks Association staged a protest against the wise men committee comprising 63 intellectuals and journalists. The group filed a complaint against the wise men on the charge of “attempting to eliminate the Turkish Constitution” at the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The group, carrying various placards, shouted slogans such as “Wise men, don't try our patience” and “The wise men committee is an illegal organization.”
The group also issued a press statement in front of the courthouse. Speaking to the press on behalf of the group, Young Turks Association President Mehmet Esen defined the wise men committee as a group of traitors convened to divide the country on an order from the imprisoned leader of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), Abdullah Ocalan.
The committee was formed by the Prime Minister's Office to prepare the public for talks with the terrorist PKK and the pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party (BDP). The committee will help in solving the long-standing Kurdish issue.
