Caretaker Prime Minister Hazar Khan Khoso has directed for accelerating pace of work on all ongoing development projects in Balochistan. He also directed the Planning Division and Ministry of Finance to remove procedural obstacles in consultation with the provincial authorities for timely completion of these projects.
Prime Minister was speaking at a briefing on various development projects in the province during his visit here Wednesday.
These included Gwadar Port, Gwadar Development Authority, Kachhi Canal Project, Ratodero-Khuzdar Road Project, Naulang and Mirani dams’ projects here. Balochistan Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Magsi, Chief Minister Nawab Ghaus Bakhsh Barozai, caretaker Federal Minister for Communications Asad Mandokhel, Secretary Planning Commission, Chairman NHA, Chairman WAPDA, Balochistan Chief Secretary and other officials were present at the briefing.
Government accords top priority to the speedy completion of ongoing development projects in the province and will utilize all available resources in the this regard, Khosa said adding physical progress on these projects would not be delayed either because of shortage of funds or any procedural impediment.
Earlier, the Chairman WAPDA briefed the prime minister that the Kachhi Canal Project will be completed by June 30 this year and irrigation water will be available to lands on either side of the canal.
He said that Kachhi canal project management has already sought the services of National Engineering Services Pakistan NESPAK for efficient implementation of the project.
About Naulang Dam, he said the progress on the dam was delayed due to unavailability of funds. However, the project will soon be completed as sufficient funds have been released for it.
Referring to Gwadar Port, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of ongoing Ratodero-Khuzdar Highway project for connecting the port to rest of the country and directed the Ministry of Communications for its earlier completion.
"Gwadar port will not only play a significant role in progress and prosperity of the province, but also usher entire nation in an era of development," prime minister remarked. Federal government will also look into the proposal for appointment of Chief Minister Balochistan as chairman Gwadar Port Authority.
About expansion of Gwadar Port, the prime minister was briefed that the project would cost Rs 25 billion, which also included establishing a Free Trade Zone while sufficient land in this regard had been acquired.
Chairman National Transmission and Dispatch Corporation NTDC informed the prime minister that Balochistan province had been given representation in the board of members of the NTDC for the first time.
