Colombia seizes 1 ton of cocaine

Colombian authorities said Monday they have seized more than one ton of cocaine in a boat heading to Central America from the country's Pacific coast.

"The boat and crew were taken to the Coast Guard Station in Buenaventura city, where after being rigorously tested into water tanks, 59 sacks containing the alkaloid were found", the Navy said in a statement.

The fishing-type boat with seven people on board were captured dozens of kilometers away from the west of Gorgona island in the Pacific. The stash would be worth up to US million and the Colombia navy has seized 19.4 tons of cocaine so far this year.
