The first green building amongst hospitals and medical centers in Dubai as well as the first LEED certified Gold Rated Green Building in the Emirate MedHealth Medical Centre was opened here yesterday.
The inauguration by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Dubai World, was also attended by Salma Hareb, CEO of Economic Zones World and Jafza and officials from Jafza and Dubai Ports World, Tarakhees, EHS and The Fire Department.
Located in Jebel Ali it is the first medical centre to implement the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, for green buildings in Dubai.
The new center will save more than 50 percent of normal consumption of water in ordinary buildings through innovative technologies of collecting air conditioning water as well as rainwater and the use of recycled water for irrigation.
Also, the taps at the center save water from loss as well as the building itself will diminish CO2 emission remarkably due to installing special chilling systems in place. The glass used guarantees suitable temperature and reduces the usage of lighting.
This centre is approved by Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services to conduct First Aid Training and accredited by UK's First Aid International.
