Gayoom says no to factionalism within PPM

President of the Progressive Party of Maldives, PPM, the former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has said that there should be no factionalism within the party following the election of PPM’s Presidential primary.

Gayoom made this remark speaking at the special ceremony of PPM held to announce the appointment of Abdullah Yameen as the PPM’s presidential candidate following his success in the PPM presidential primary election.

The former President said that all organs of the party should give full cooperation and support to the party’s presidential candidate Abdullah Yameen. And no member of organ should do anything that can lead to factionalism and breaking the ranks of the party.

Gayoom called all members to respect the charter of the PPM and not to do anything that violates the charter.

In addition to this Gayoom said that PPM’s primary is the most just and fair democratic election ever held within a political party in the Maldives. He added that it is a perfect example of democracy in the country.

Gayoom said that it was an honour for him to get the opportunity to grant the presidential ticket of the PPM to Yameen.

Furthermore, Gayoom said that PPM has a good chance of winning the upcoming presidential election and therefore he called all members to stay strong and to be steadfast and work together in unity to win the election.
