In the fourth quarter 2012, holdings of debt securities by non-residents accounted for 78 percent of total debt securities issued in Lithuania, the Bank of Lithuania said in a statement.
Annual growth rate of the said securities equaled 27 percent (in October-December 2011, it amounted to 13 percent). Non-residents also owned one third (34 percent) of the total shares issued in Lithuania, whose annual growth rate was 11 percent (in the fourth quarter 2011, it made up - one percent).
The largest portion of non-resident investment went to Lithuania's financial sector: non-residents owned 97 percent of shares issued by other monetary financial institutions (other MFIs) - and 76 percent of shares issued by insurance corporations.
