Among other private and government organisations, renewable energy and research and development directorate of PDB (Bangladesh Power Development Board) displayed its activities, future planning and SHS connection system at the 'National Seminar and Exhibition on Renewable Energy-2013' jointly organised by Institute of Renewable Energy, University of Dhaka and Bangladesh Solar Energy Society.
In this year the theme of the exhibition was 'Strategic Priorities for Green Energy'. The event continued for three days from sixth to eighth April. PDB put on display the present generation level of renewable energy which includes solar, wind and hydro in particular, says a press release.
The upcoming projects are also highlighted in the exhibition which will help attain the government's vision of five percent of renewable generation out of the total generation using various fuels by 2015, and 10 per cent in 2020. Creating awareness among the consumers was the prime objective of PDB's stall in the exhibition.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Vice-chancellor of Dhaka University Prof. Dr. A.A.M.S. Arifin Siddique while Additional Secretary to Power Division of Energy Ministry Tapos Kumar Roy attended the ceremony as the special guest.
During exhibition several technical sessions were held with presentation of papers related to renewable energy. In the exhibition PDB team was led by Director of renewable energy research and development Engr. Md. Shafique Uddin.
