Speakers at a function here recently stressed for enhanced participation of the womenfolk in economic activities for attaining sustainable national development, reports BSS.
They were addressing the inaugural ceremony of 'Anonnya Sewing House', a private sector enterprise, in Lalbag area of the city with the owner of the enterprise and woman entrepreneur Basonti Tarafder Popi in the chair.
Administrator of Rangpur Zila parishad Alhaj Advocate Rezina Razzaque formally inaugurated the sewing house through a ribbon- cutting ceremony.
Principal of Moulana Keramat Ali College Monwar Hosain, journalists Omar Faroque, Bablu Nag, Sarifuzzaman Ripan, Mokbul Hossain and Kamruzzaman Selim and President of Bangalee Sangskritik Jyote Merina Begum, addressed as special guests.
The speakers said that the present government has taken various time-befitting steps for flourishing woman education, leadership and establishing equal rights of the women's community to attain sustainable development in every sector.
The women have already proved equal ability like men through serving efficiently in the administration, judiciary, education, business, police, army, navy, air force and other sectors and are playing vital roles in taking the nation forward, they added.
The chief guest congratulated the entrepreneur of 'Anonnya Sewing House' for setting up an individual enterprise and urged the unemployed youths to follow her footsteps in achieving economic self-reliance through self-employment.
