H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, met today a Group of members of the European Parliamentary (EP) on a lunch banquet.
During the meeting, they exchanged cordial talks and reviewed the relations of cooperation between EP and the UAE.
The relations between the UAE and EP saw significant growth. Recently, the EU announced the opening of a diplomatic mission to the United Arab Emirates, in Abu Dhabi, an indication of the EU's appreciation of the regional effective role of the UAE in all spheres.
The UAE-EP Friendship Group was launched in order to: - strengthen communication between the EP members and their UAE counterparts periodically.
- contribute to the enhancement of the economic, social and cultural relations between the EU and the UAE through supporting the unofficial dialogue and communication between businessmen, the government, the EU officials, financial experts and investors, especially through conferences and symposia in certain sectors.
- act as a link through its members and the EU member states in order to complement diplomatic interaction with the UAE.
The Group now includes 31 members and is expected to expand to include other EP members.
Suleiman Hamed Salem Al Mazrouei, Head of the UAE Mission to European Union (EU) and UAE Ambassador to Belgium, attended the meeting.
