Daily Amar Desh acting editor Mahmudur Rahman, arrested on Thursday morning, will be produced before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court here on Thursday afternoon in connection with three cases filed with Tejgaon Police Station.
Court sources said police will produce Mahmudur Rahman before the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sahidul Islam seeking a 24-day remand in the three cases.
He was shown arrested in a case filed under Information Technology Act and two other cases filed for obstructing police in performing their duty and exploding crude bombs.
Police arrested Mahmudur Rahman from his office in the capital’s Karwanbazar area on Thursday on charge of sedition.
He was arrested in a sedition case filed against him and the newspaper’s publisher Hasmat Ali over publishing Skype conversations between former Chairman of International Crimes Tribunal-1 (ICT-1) Justice Mohammed Nizamul Huq and expatriate Bangladeshi legal expert Ahmed Ziauddin, police said.
