Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, today received a Vietnamese delegation led by the Vice President of the People Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, Nguyen Thi Hong.
At the meeting, Sheikh Nahyan and Thong discussed bilateral relations between the UAE and Vietnam including the implementation of initiatives for cooperation on supporting tourism in both countries through the exchange of expertise.
They also discussed tourist attractions in both countries and the possibility of increasing the number of tourists to the two countries through national carriers as Etihad Airways plans to launch its service between Abu Dhabi and Ho Chi Minh City in October this year.
The Vietnamese official invited Sheikh Nahyan to attend the International Travel Expo, scheduled next September in Ho Chi Minh.
Thong congratulated the UAE on winning the top position in the Middle East in terms of its travel and tourism industry competitiveness, according to a recent World Economic Forum report, and on being ranked 28th out of 140 nations in the fifth Travel '&' Tourism Competitiveness Report.
