Bilawal vows to protect legacy of Bhuttos

Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto on Sunday vowed to protect legacy of Bhuttos and said the PPP would sweep the upcoming general elections with the support of the people of Pakistan to form the next government in Islamabad once again.

“Let me assure the followers of Bhuttos that I will protect their legacy till my last breath while carrying forward their mission, vision and philosophy being the leader of the largest and most popular political party of the country, which has roots in all the provinces. We shall live and die for the cause of Pakistan as done by my mother Benazir Bhutto and my grandpa Zulfikar Ali Bhutto,” the PPP chairman said in a statement.

Bilawal Bhutto said that he would lead the election campaign of the PPP like his mother Benazir Bhutto who laid down her life for the cause of democracy and for the people of Pakistan. He said the PPP government successfully completed its five-year term under the courageous leadership of President Asif Zardari and the party would bag the 2013 polls with a thumping majority.

The products of Zia martial law who are dreaming of victory shall have to bite the dust once again because the masses have not forgotten their murky past. Those who had been groomed by General Ziaul Haq and who had been vowing to fulfil the mission of the dictator should stop portraying them as the champions of democracy. They are trying to deceive the people of Pakistan once again by stating that they would change their fate once given power. Each time they took the reign of power following some engineered elections, the remnants of General Zia did nothing for the poor masses”.

Bilawal Bhutto said, following the military takeover of 1999, the followers of General Zia who were impersonating themselves as tigers, turned out to be jackals when they signed a secret deal with General Pervez Musharraf and left Pakistan for ten long years in return of a presidential pardon.

Unlike those paper tigers, Bilawal said, his mother Benazir Bhutto always stood like a rock in the face of successive dictatorships and went to the extent of laying down her life for the cause of democracy.

Bilawal said the PPP would continue to serve the downtrodden sections of society as always and would never leave them in the lurch. Bilawal said after returning to power, his government would double the monthly stipend amount of Rs 1,000 per month, which is being given to the poor families under the Benazir Income Support Programme.

Bilawal Bhutto said, “The PPP is the real heir to the legacy of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. My mother gave the best years of her life while protecting her father’s legacy. She confronted the worse at the hands of General Ziaul Haq who had sent my grandfather to the gallows. She kept the party and its mission alive with great steadfastness. She gave her life for the preservation of democracy and the people of this country acknowledge her great sacrifice.”
