PM gives donation to families of 5 slain truck drivers

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Saturday gave donation to the families of five truck drivers and helpers who were killed by the BNP-Jamaat terrorists in Feni and Khulna recently.

The Prime Minister handed over cheques for the donation to the relatives of the victims at a function at her official residence Ganabhaban.

PM's Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad said the Prime Minister has given the financial assistance to the poor families from Prime Minister's Relief and Welfare Fund.

Bilkis Begum, wife of Nur Mohammad, received savings certificate of Tk 500,000 while Poly Khan, wife of Mohammad Sohan, Saira Begum, wife of Abdur Razzak Hawlader, and Mozammel Haque, father of Arshad Ali Dewan, received cheques for Tk 200,000 each from the Prime Minister.

A cheque for Tk 200,000 will be sent to Ayesha Khatun, wife of slain truck driver Shahidul Islam, through the Deputy Commissioner of Khulna, PM's private secretary Abdul Malek said.

Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan, State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Jahangir Kabir Nanak, PM's special assistant and joint general secretary of Awami League Mahbubul Alam Hanif, AL labour affairs secretary Habibur Rahman Siraj and general secretary of Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation Osman Al werei, among others, present on the occasion.
