Police recovered hanging body of a treasurer of North East University from his house in the city’s Sheikhghat area on Friday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Dr. Mohammad Abdullah, 61, treasurer of newly established North East University in Sylhet city and resident of house No 56 at Shekhghat.
The university sources said several employees of the university went to the house of Abdullah in the area in the morning after failing to contact him (Abdullah) over phone and found his body hanging in his room.
On information, police recovered the body at about 4.00pm and sent it to Sylhet Osmani Memorial Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. Later, a CID team of police visited the spot. Sub-inspector Mobashir of Sylhet Kotwali Police Station said whether it is a killing or suicide will be cleared after investigation into the incident.
