Facebook is heading to Washington.

Founder Mark Zuckerberg has created a new advocacy group that is tapping Democratic and Republican lobbyists to focus on education and immigration reform, Politico reported.

"If Zuckerberg decides he wants to apply the levers of politics, to make policy change happen, his impact could be extraordinary," political consultant Dan Schnur told The San Jose Mercury News.

The group is hiring lobbying firms Peck, Madigan, Jones & Stewart and Fierce, Isakowitz & Blalock which work with technology and immigration issues, according to Politico.

ABC News reported that Zuckerberg will be teaming up with his former college roommate Joe Green for the project.

Zuckerberg's political contributions already include $100 million to New Jersey schools and $500 million to the nonprofit Silicon Valley Community Foundation, the Mercury News said.
