BOSTON, Mass. — The award-winning international news organization GlobalPost is hiring a Deputy Social Media Editor at its worldwide headquarters in Boston.
The position is multifaceted. It involves managing various social media networks. It also involves making web content visually engaging. You should have an eye for crafting anything from lead series art to shareable charts. Expert skills in photoshop and illustrator are required. An understanding of how to interpret and present data is a huge plus. You should be excited by the idea of designing your own graphics, writing your own stories, and creating your own content, every day.
You should also be comfortable working with writers and reporters in the field, handling pitches, editing, and optimizing content for the web. You know what makes a story shareable, from the headline on down. You both understand the voice of the web and can copy edit with the best of them. You view the world in GIFs.
You are innovative, can work independently and are not afraid to try new things. You thrive in an always-evolving, collaborative environment. You have a sense of humor. You work well with others. You like long walks on the beach. You energetically embrace internet culture and are eager to join a hard-charging editorial team that’s helping redefine international news in the digital age.
