A new study shows that boozing before bed may mean a bad night's sleep.
Researchers at the London Sleep Centre found that despite many people using alcohol to sleep, liquor actually prevents you from sleeping deeply.
It does this by reducing rapid eye movement (REM) sleep.
REM sleep is considered to be necessary in getting a good night's sleep - without it you become drowsy and irritable during the day.
WebMD said that researchers found that the more you drink the worse it gets.

“Alcohol may seem to be helping you to sleep, as it helps induce sleep, but overall it is more disruptive to sleep, particularly in the second half of the night,” says researcher Irshaad Ebrahim in a statement.
“Alcohol also suppresses breathing and can precipitate sleep apnea."
Researchers said that many drink to fall asleep quicker but the findings show that it has unintended consequences.
The study used data from 27 previous experiments.
The study also found that alcohol before bed is likely to produce more snoring, said HealthDay - not to mention mischievous friends who may draw on your face.
