Americans are more stressed than ever and West Virginia is the most stressed-out state.

A new Gallup poll found that about 40 percent of Americans reported feeling stressed.

Not unexpectedly, the Hawaiians were the least stressed Americans with 32.1 percent reporting reporting stress.

The study over about 353,000 Americans was pretty straightforward.

Researchers asked simply: "Did you feel stressed during a lot of the day yesterday?"

They found that the Northeast and Midwest tended to have the highest clusters of stressed people.

There was a small link between unemployment and stress levels that mirrored other studies but causation remains unclear.

The five least stressed states in order were Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, Iowa and Wyoming.

The most stressed states in order were West Virginia, Rhode Island, Kentucky, Utah and Massachusetts.

Kentucky and Utah have once been in the number one stress position in previous polls.

Hawaii was also the state where people felt the most enjoyment on a daily basis, whereas Rhode Island fared the worst.

The entire report can be found here.
