The number of welfare recipients in Japan hit a record high for the 11th month in a row in March, rising to 2,161,053, the welfare ministry said Wednesday.
The figure represents an increase of 5,835 from February, according to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.
The number of households on welfare in March rose by 3,985 to 1,578,628, also an all-time high.
