Businesses, universities and the local bureau of the industry ministry joined a council set up Thursday to boost the number of foreign students and help foreign graduates find jobs in the western Japan region.
The management council for employment of global manpower aims to address a concentration of foreign students taking employment in Tokyo after finishing school and to encourage them to get jobs in the Kansai region.
The council, set up by the Kansai Economic Federation, includes eight universities such as Kyoto University, Osaka University and Kobe University, as well as the local bureau of the Economy, Trade and Industry Ministry and the Kyoto Association of Cooperative Executives.
They are planning to give seminars and provide internships to increase chances for foreign students to get in touch with Kansai businesses.
