Russia's state-run oil company Rosneft said Friday it has signed a deal to supply 1.25 million tons of liquefied natural gas annually from 2019 to Japanese trading house Marubeni Corp.
A memorandum was signed by Rosneft President Igor Sechin and Marubeni Managing Executive Officer Motoo Uchiyama in St. Petersburg.
Russia's natural gas exports had been monopolized by government-affiliated Gazprom. Rosneft has been expanding its natural gas operations after President Vladimir Putin ordered liberalization of the market in February.
