3 Chinese ships enter Japanese waters around Senkaku Islands

Three Chinese maritime surveillance ships entered Japanese territorial waters Saturday around the Senkaku Islands, which are controlled by Japan and claimed by China, the Japan Coast Guard said.

The three vessels -- the Haijian 23, 49 and 51 -- entered the territorial waters in the East China Sea around 9:30 a.m., according to the 11th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters in Naha, Okinawa Prefecture.
