Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. said Thursday it will join the development of two new types of aero engines by Britain's Rolls-Royce, taking charge of providing core parts for the engines.
The Japanese heavy machinery maker will manufacture components, including turbine blades, for the Trent 1000-TEN engine for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and the Trent XWB-97 for the Airbus A350-1000.
Mitsubishi Heavy said the deal will enable it to strengthen its international competitiveness in core engineering technology and expand its aircraft engine business.
