Containers of whale meat were on their way back to Iceland after German customs in Hamburg removed the cargo from a ship bound for Japan, according to Icelandic media.
Iceland has expressed displeasure over what Germany did, saying its export of whale meat to Japan is in accordance with international law.
Iceland is carrying out commercial whaling, while Germany strongly opposes such practice.
