PM Abe casts absentee vote in upper house election

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe cast an absentee vote in Japan's House of Councillors election Tuesday morning at the Shibuya ward office in Tokyo.

After voting for Sunday's election, the Liberal Democratic Party leader told reporters, "I cast my vote in the hope of achieving a majority and moving politics forward."

"Fierce competition is continuing across all constituencies, so we must keep on our toes to the end," he said.
