Japanese Communist Party leader Kazuo Shii said Tuesday he will visit Vietnam and Indonesia from Monday.
During his seven-day trip, Shii will meet with Nguyen Phu Trong, general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, among others.
Shii told a press conference he hopes to "learn from the ASEAN countries about how to implement a peaceful framework for security in northeast Asia."
Vietnam and Indonesia are among the 10 member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
